Default pushing to go back to the forces - advice

after deciding that there isnt much out there in life that really keeps me interested anymore, im pushing myself to go back to the forces....

ive came to the decision after being in the forces since leaving school, and now coming out to the world back here, ive noticed that theres nothing that still keeps me interested really... the patter isnt the same, and to be honest its all pretty much a crock of shit out here really, it just doesnt feel right to me.

so after a 2 years out, im wanting back in..... but to be fair, i havent really trained hard in over a year, and dont know where to begin again to get back into fitness.

weight wise im still ok i still do some weight training, but overall cardio and endurance has slipped a fair bit.

so im looking for advice on what kind of things i can do to keep myself fit and get back to my old fitness levels.

food eating
weight training
endurance

basically any advice whatsoever people give me i will try out.

also.... i know people will say good and bad things about them, but muscle toning machines, what do people reckon of them being used in conjunction with exercise on a regular basis as well?

Out of interest how hard do you have to train to get into the Army?

I imagine a lot. But I'm struggling with work now - but hammering my bike every day to get fit and be healthier. Be nice to eventually get fit enough to join up, as it's another option.

dan it depends what your going for, infantry has a higher rating than the likes of logistics corps etc, and then the para's above them as well mate.

ideally you want to be able to run a mile and a half around 9.30 minutes, the limit is 10:30 but a minute inside is preferred, and be able to lift 55kg no problem but again take 10Kg on top of that as well to be on the safe side.

it isnt easy for some, and easy for others, but its worth doing as its a great career.

people who dont understand the military will say all the "anti-war" crap of the day, but no-where else will support you the way that they do.

but you are right the paras are another level

i will do a bit of sparring at my mates house with him in his garage, and i was also thinking of doing some swimming and sauna treatments as well as weight training to help me on top of my usual running and press up/situp daily routine....

any advice for some healthy eating, i have my usual 5 a day, and drink nothing but water 99% of the day, anything else i can do or any extra things i can try out?
