Default Motivational post. Monthly improvements topic.

Been browing tonight and see that more people than i expected have been showing pictures and generally getting into teh swing of things...

Ive been looking through my own pics, and have been pleased with monthly gains. Its a hard slog but feeling worth it ovberall, so im still going daily and still loving every minute of it.

Here are a series of monthly pictures that i will now update every month to chart my own progress. Hopefully some more peeps will join in, and then others can use it as a motivation booster.

I started the Gym in October 05, and have been going 4 - 6 days a week every week since, using a great training plan devised for me by Paul Eggleton and tweaked by myself ever since. Thanks Paul, and also thanks to everyone in this forum who has helped me with my newbie questions, ive learnt a lot now and feel perfectly capable of managing myself nowadays. Thanks again.

Me, when i started the Gym last October 05.

Again in March this year.

And now April.

Not the size of some of the chaps in here and wont be for another few years yet, but im enjoying it and have increased the weights i can lift with every bodypart by an absolute minimum of double and in some cases, quadruple, so im pleased all in all. Very pleased.

Ive now started a diet as i was starting to Plateau so see it as a good opportunity to lose sme of this excess fat and see what sort of a shape develops. Stll doing teh same regime at the gym although its feeling a little more tiring now. Will be chatting to paul in teh morning about that and getting some decent advise.

Im looking forward to updating this same topic post and being able to scroll down the pics as the months go by, hopefully seeing great changes.... [/u]

Thanks Martin, i am still trying really hard to change, but i can see now, after my first 6 months, just how much time and effort you guys have put into achieving the physique you have. It really is almost impossible to fathom how slowly (But surely) gains are made until you get in there and try it out for yourself.

Nice work Dave, you should grab a few monthly shots and put em on here, then edit it to add them on every month so you can scroll through and see the change

Thanks Wes, hope you enjoy it mate, best tip i can give you with regards Big weights, is take it easy, dont try and lift too much just cos the guy uip the road can. The correct Technique with good clean reps is far more important than extra weight.. far more important.

Cheers for the advice and I know what you mean Stu, my mate can do 35kg dumbell press no probs, I can just barely lift the thing lol

Got quite a few mates that have been into it for years so I should be in safe hands

Its a bloody slow but certain progression thats for sure. Quickly Looking back through my logs, i started back in October doing the 30degree incline dumbell press struggling at 17kg each hand and now do 2sets of 8 at virtually double that (32kg) with relative ease, finished by one set of 5 at 34. Every 2kg improvement counts.

At least if the damn bells were marked in pounds it would seem a better achievement... 2 kg = 4.4lb

Id take you on Only joking!

Well done for the gains you have "gained" so far, you seem dedicated so should do well in the future.

I keep meaning to get into the gym myself and bulk up on my pathetic 11st but the lack of a training partner puts me off.

Im not there to chat, im there to achieve goals and beat PB's.

I will have some more time during summer. Should I start doing more cardio like 2-3hours per day? Any motivation for that?

Quick, Im losing it... Someone get their arm round my shoulder.

I started off in the gym about 9 months ago, I was 6'2" and quite skinny.

I started off doing 10kg dumbell curls, a 30kg benchpress, 80kg leg press and being able to muster about 3 dips and 10 pressups.

Up until about a week ago, through blood, sweat, tears and all the tuna in the Atlantic Ocean I was doing 27.5kg dumbell curls, 87.5kf benchpress, 180kg legpress and I can do 20 dips rapid fire and about 50 pressups. I was well chuffed with myself, until I went away for a fortnight with the mrs. I went back int the gym and couldnt even do a 70kg press. Whats up with me?

That happens mate, a break does that to me too, my new personal trainer said to avoid the break, I agree, no breaks for me from now on! Give it a week or two and you`ll be back to where you were before

Congrats, Stu......the hard work's defiintely worth it.

I decided to do something about my fitness/weight earlier in the year, so at the end of July, I bought myself an exercise bike and started to eat a LOT more healthily (not worth me starting straight off with going to the gym, my old schedule probably would have killed me in a month).

In the time since July, with just 3 decent sessions a week on the bike, and the healthy eating, I've so far managed to lose a stone in weight, my resting pulse-rate is down from 85-90 to between 65-75, and I feel a lot fitter.

I'm getting there, slowly, still a long way to go!

No pics, though, until I start to feel a bit more comfortable with my weight...

Wow, cant believe its almost a year since i updated this topic!!

I bet you all thought i stopped training too! Nope... i got even more fooking involved...

I started Karate and achieved my first belt 3 weeks ago, and now go twice a week, as well as still doing my usual gym regime.

Guess what, im still a fat bastard. Fook.

the whole fat thing is the issue for me.. i seem to lose weight but not fat.. photos to follow later.. alhtough as i hadn't considered a photo diary, but i think ti will be clear as to how much weight i've lost (abotu 2.5 stone)

main problem now is building back up.. as mentioned in another post here this particularly applies to my arms as they're long...
