Right im going to find out about it too, I could be doing with some of that.

Of late I've been learning the different effects breathing & posture has during excercise! All self observations/learning thus far, so it will be interesting to see what the Pilates classes have to offer & what can be learned.

I'll report back

Andy_R Thankyou very much mate, that's really appreciated. My weight loss is going great, I would just like something new, and from what I've read this seems right up my street, providing it's okay.

I hope so, cheers, Benni!

Benni just in form my first class it was good One of the first things that I was aware of was that there was a high percentage of people in attendance who were carrying injuries, quite a few folks with differing degrees of instability.

The excercise isnt intense quite the opposite actualy, a lot of focus on breathing whilst maintaining an element of tension to your tummy! Focus on stretching out your back & legs. Using a resistance-band to excercise too. Its almost like physio but you are in control of the extent you flex and your movements(If you can relate to that)

Hope that paints a picture of what its like??

I made a point of asking the instructor at the end about you and your position. He(not a she. Gutted ) said that Yes you would benefit from Pilates but to make it clear to your instructor from the start about your hip, just so you dont atempt anything that may aggrivate it!

So Id say go for it mate, loads of different folks there all with differing abilitys and all at different fitness levels, some folks didnt do certain excercises due to injuries, but everyone is so focused on themselves it go's unnoticed. Its fun, relaxing yet working out and good for focusing on breathing and posture.

Been doing a pilates based class for a while now, it is really good to help you stretch all your muscles after a heavy workout and even hits you where you did not think you had muscles before! I was the only male in the class, there are now a few more but the amount of young attractive women that do it also may entice a few more blokes to go and try it too!

Cheers for the post Matt it was enough to motivate me to go and give it a try

The class I do is in the dance studio which is mirrored all the way around, maybe once I dont need to focus on tweeking my posture so much, I can start to admire the surroundings

Do you find yourself using some of the techniques during normal days??

Tell me about it, the mirrors are bit of a distraction

Tbh mate, the main thing i find is that my abs are held in more without knowing about it, my back is a lot straighter and im not hunched over

Will report back after a few more lessons
