Newbie!!!!!!!!
Only in here mind
So we've finally had our gym sorted and kitted out at work, we've got a cross trainer, excersice bike and multigym (among other things). And seeing as since I've been working in a office enviroment I've shall we say added a few Lbs!!
So now's the time to sort it!
Started this week by hitting the bike for 30-40mins and 10-15mins on the crosstrainer, want to concerntrate on cardio fittness first, then after a couple of month hit the weights as well.
I'm 30, weigh 19st 4 and am about 6ft 3, been setting the polar heart monitor to around 155-160 while on the bike, but whats the best way to work out your optimum fat burning rate and cardio rate?!?
Anybody shed any light, or offer any opinions?!?
Thanks in advance
Jason

Can be a bit slow in here but give it time.
Personally I'm not into fitness so can't help. Sorry.
Try searching the web for optimum heart rate although I seem to recall something from school saying it was 220 minus your age? No doubt thats complete rubbish though.

Yeah thats for the maximum heart rate though (and sod going to that, I've only been doing it for a week! ).
I've borrowed a mates polar watch and chest strap to measure my resting rate, then hopefully go on from there.
Wanted to really know what I should be doing etc, am I doing anything wrong but not mixing the routines up

But after a week I still ache!
Hopefully not doing anything wrong, but if someone thinks I am, please feel free to let me know!
Measured my resting heart rate this morning and its between 65-70 (which I hope is ok) and found this site to reach my optimum rate of 154 with 130 being the lowest.

How you getting on Jay?
I'm doing totally on the cheap at home, bike rigged upto a turbo trainer and a cheap rower, pikey power
Lost half a stone in a week, unfortunately it needs to carry on coming off at that rate, more hard work ahead then.
changed routine slightly to 25mins on the bike at 15mph, then 10 mins on the rower, then another 15mins on the bike.

Yeah going alright Matt, feel better and doing more this week.
Trust me If we didnt have the gym equipment, I'd be doing it that way!!
Been doing 20mins on the cross tranier, left the bike alone this week and doing 3000mtrs on the rower. doing some weights but very light work, 3 sets of 10.
Been dodging all the dodgy foods this week and trying to eat about 4 times a day, drink shite loads of water.............. havent really weighed myself as I think it will depress me! but thought I'd start measuring myself in certain area's and keeping notes.
But thats good going your end mate!
