weight gain
hi im 21 and been going to the gym for 3 years. i used to weigh 9 stone and was as skinny as a rake could hardly pess the bar i was that weak, now 3 years on i weigh 10stone 10 so not a massive improvememt but some.
how much weight have you put on in that time ?
also if anyones the same sort of size as me whats your max weights.
i can easily push 40kg a side dumbells on flat bench or 92kg on bar(down to chest no cheating)
sqat 80+ but hardly do it
overhead press 60kg (from floor to arms straight above head)
dead 140 but hardly do it.
do 50kg a side on shrugs
ive got nobody to compare myself to so dont know if im doing well as everyone else is massive and doing well over what im doing.
cheers ben

Mate it sounds as though you're doing fantastically, although I'm a little older than you I gave up smoking almost 2 years ago & weighed around 9 stone at the time. Within 2 months with eating more & a bit better I went up to around 10 1/2 stone. i went to the gym for just over a year but stopped just after xmas just gone. I'm now into my 5th week starting up again & taking it a bit easy for now trying to build strength back up again. I have now just hit 11 stone & would like to put at least another stone on. I can safely say at the moment I'm benching no where near what you are. I haven't done squats & not sure what the over head press is that your saying (sounds like military press for shoulders) None of the weight I'm doing is near where you are though. At the moment as said trying to build up strength again but am mainly concentrating on running and building up stamina etc as doing a few 10k runs.
I would probably be able to do a bit more if I had someone to spot me but unfortunately train on my own. As said though sounds as though you are doing extremely well

cheers.
by over head press i mean starting with a olympic bar on the floor pick it up to your waist, flick it up to your shoulders then press your arms straight upwards.
il give increased reps a go i think as ive been getting stronger but not bigger.

i can bench 3 plates a side (140 kilos) for 4 reps (thats after ive done 10 reps, and 8 reps on 100 & 120 kilos)
gaining size/strength is all about pushing yourself. Completeing full sets of reps does you no favours, you should be failing.
