Default im new to this fitness thing, please help.

hi everyone, im new to this fitness lark, im over weight by a few stone, well im about 5ft 9 and weigh 14.2 stone so i need to loose a fare bit.

im after some advice on the best way to do this.

at the mo the only execise i get is a hr 5 a side footy a week, and walking about weekends etc shopping, so i dont do much. i dont have time for the gym as i have kids to look after at night time when the misses goes of the work. so any sort of training i need to be able to do at home.

diet wise is the biggest thing against me, im the fussyest bugger about. i dont eat meats, or fish, or veggies really. i prity much survive on potatoes, fruit, fish fingers, sausages, bread, crisps, etc, basicly junk food, and TBh i hate it, i have tryed other food, but it makes me throw up. its something iin my head

i have tryed the slimfast stuff before, shakes and food bars etc, and didn`t do to bad. is it worth trying with this again, or is there better products on the market?

im looking at slimming down my top half, my legs im happy with, its my upper body i hate, i got the horrid bear belly, man boobs and my mussles in my arms need improving really.

so can anyone surgest anything to help me out, or am i at a lost cause

cheers

Gona be honest and maybe a little harsh, but your diet is shite..........

Mate you need to start getting a decent meal plan worked out....

I have a feeling its all you have been eating for so long any thing else, in your head isnt right....

Any sort of exercise needs to be complimented with a decent diet to be effective...

Im not talking about really cutting out all the bad stuff just try to think about what you need to stay healthy and then once you have cracked that you can reward yourself with a cheat meal..........

Try it mate, its like giving up a habbit you WILL get used to it....

Good luck.........

Just so happens I am 5ft 9 and was 14.2 stone when I started training about 2 months ago.

All I did to lose the weight (Im now 12stone 10, nearly there!) was cut out the drink, drink plenty of water and ensure I had at least 5 pieces of fruit a day. I am also a fussy bastard so a strict, healthy only diet wasnt really an option for me, so instead i tried to cut out all shit (Chocolate, Fizzy Drinks, Crips etc) between meals.

Gym wise, I was doing circuit training until last week where I have now had to change my routine to seperate CV/Weight Training days as an hour of circuit training was no longer benefitting me as it used to. I appreciate you cannot use a gym, but I also did alot of running, every night a 10/20 minute jog around the block.

It is quite a hard thing to start on, but I was lucky as I progressed quickly and saw my hard work pay off, which kept me motivated. Losing alot of weight generally isnt easy, so just keep at it

First of all slim fast won't make you lose fat you will gain it. Its full of carbs and is a marketing ploy. If people magically drunk this product and a couple of months later lost fat they wouldn't sell any after. Job would be done.

Clean up your diet and beging cutting out the big contibuters to gain like Beer, Cakes/crips/choc, sugar and bread. Alcohol is worst for gaining beef as it attacks the liver, slows the metabolism down and has big calories as well so you get a double whammy. Even drinking spirits wont do. Bread is everywhere and so are sarnies, avoid. Why does everyone have bread in their trolley? Also drink plenty of water and get used to the taste or get a sugar free cordial and get used to that. As somone said stagger your meals, eat smaller but more regular, say every 2 hours, 3 at push. Get to the supermarket and pick up a few of mangoes, pineapple, bananas and/or oranges and have that as your treat main carb intake. But not too many. Eating lots of potatoes is not the best as again its carbland and its just silly not to get plenty of VEG.

Once thats done get doing plenty of cardio, get out there running. Try running in the morning before work on emtpy to create deficit and burn the storage not your weetabix or whatever. Have some water shortly after return, then 40+ mins later get a good breakfast. running at night will just burn of that days food, usually the evening meal or whatver you have not worked off at work,

And eat the bigger meal before you go to work, don't fill up the car after the trip to the coast!
