a friend came to me for me to have a look at his fiesta as it feels realey down on power and has a sputter at light revs so i changed his plugs but its still the same 3 plugs where light brown and 1 was black so changed his leads he has run out of petrol a couple of times to i know of so i was thinking fuel filter blocked injectors blocked exhaust blocked cat failed?

As it's a 1.25, first thing I would do is do fuel filter, then check co and suspect a buggered lambda, at least they are easy to change out on these, being at the rear of the engine sticking up out the exhaust, can be seriously tight though.

I have seen MAF meters fail on these very often giving them symptoms.

Similar issue here with the idle and lack of power, but only began when engine reassembled after changing rocker gasket. All put back together properly, only airbox on top, spark plug leads and rocker cover removed.
