Default Fuel metering unit colour change

Hi.
Was wondering if anyone would know if it is possible to change the colour or rubber/plastic parts in your engine bay such as the fuel metering unit cover?
I am in the middle of spraying some of my engine parts and also changing some of the coolant, oil and air hoses to blue silicone hoses and I think it would be good if the metering unit were blue as well, as the main induction hose connecting to it will be changed.
The problem is anyone who has got an escort or even seen the metering unit up close will know it has a strange rubbery texture to it so I don't think it will adhere to most paints well.

Any help much appreciated!

For the record this is not my engine bay

Im sure someone like Roose could make a replacement pipe in blue. Its only a 90deg(ish) reducer at the end of the day. Awkward shape i know but a moulds a mould

I'm too scared to ask for a price for that! Haha I suppose it's worth a phone call to find out

It's not just a 90° reducer, it also has a certain shape inside suitable for the K-Jetronic. Plus it's got a groove inside so the part won't come off.

But would be interesting if they make a replacement part. Did you ask?

They never got back to me on it. Decided not to bother now anyway because I reckon it might cause more problems than its worth

A guy on xrtwo.com, who put the XR3i MFI engine into his MK1 Fiesta used blue silicone tape to wrap this part. Must have been this "stretch&seal" tape:

IIRC he cut the fins down to give it a smoother look. Pictures of his build thread are down, but it looked quite well.

I thought I had some pictures on my HDD or somewhere else but either I can't find them or I didn't save any...

Was in this car shortly before he went the Zetec route. Didn't have it long after the 16V conversion, started to brake it and sell the parts.

There are some pictures on photobucked left, but most of the MFI pics have been deleted.
