found a mk3 escort. whats it worth
As per title, found a 1983(I think) escort in an old unit at work, did some digging around a found the bloke who owns it. It turns out he had parked it up in there 10 years ago and had forgotten all about it. I have had a quick look over it and from what I can see other than dust is the body work looks ok with just a few bits of paint that may need touching up, the sills feel solid however I haven't actually managed to get down on my knees and have a look due to it being pretty boxed in. All the interior is there and is in good condition.
A bit about the car,
1983 (I think)
Mk3 escort 5 door
1.6 ghia automatic
White in colour
51000 miles
What would you pay for it if the sills were shot and if they turn out to be as mint as the feel and sound with a tap and is it really worth digging out and dragging into the workshop for a good look at.
Not really that clued up on mk3 escorts.
Apologies if this is in the wrong section

If it turns out to be in good nick without needing a whole hog of work, then I'd say somewhere around £1000-1200, being a 1600 I assume it's a CVH?

I don't think people really buy on spec any more, they're more concerned about the body side of things as that can cost a whole lot more to resolve.
Definitely worth digging out!

Are they fairly easy to convert to manual I.e straight swap with the relevant parts of a manual equivalent vehicle or is it best to just keep as it is?

Rear arches look good which is always a good start.
Depends what you want to do with it, I can't imagine it'd be difficult to convert to manual.

Well you see that's it I'm not entirely sure what I'd do with it, I have been looking for something to put my zetec turbo in for a while but was torn between a mk4 escort 3 door or mk2 fiesta, then I saw this and thought sleeper. But then I have been thinking if it's in as good a condition as it looks underneath then maybe standard as a daily, but I don't think I could drive an auto as a daily

It's catch 22 really, I had a very good condition mk4 that I thought many times about building a ZT into, but then I couldn't bring myself to take it to bits!
On the other hand, it's better to start with a solid base, so what do you do lol.
