MK5 XR3i 1-8 starts fine but NO battery light
Hi again,
Strange...
If I leave my Escort XR3i 1-8 Cabriolet for a few days the battery dies.. And I mean dies.. not even enough power to run the clock. Happened a few weeks back and I couldn't even open the doors due to the central locking.
I managed to get in eventually and gave the battery a really good charge last weekend.. Now completely dead again.. This time I chose not to lock the doors.. The battery is only an 063 which probably isn't powerful enough. I suspect I need an 075 or bigger.
I have been starting her and letting her run a bit to keep the battery up but maybe this is killing the battery.? Perhaps the car is only running off the battery and this is why its dying even more when I let her run.? But here's the thing. When I turn the key to position 2 the battery light doesn't come on..The car starts fine but NO battery light.
Any ideas.?
Thanks a mill

Thanks,
I heard that the battery light is an integral part of the charging system and if its not showing up when I turn the ignition on it means I aint getting a charge.?
Occasionally it does come on and go off when the engine starts as normal but most time it aint there at all.
Thanks again.
