What are you running?

I finally got my arse in gear and built up my rig last weekend, Z87 GD65 Gaming motherboard, GTX770, 16GB RAM, 4590 I5, CX600M and one of Corsairs sealed water coolers.
Next up is a new monitor, and I'm currently looking at this..
Asus VE278H 27-inch Widescreen LED Multimedia Monitor (1920 x 1080, 2ms, VGA, DVI-D, HDMI): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories Asus VE278H 27-inch Widescreen LED Multimedia Monitor (1920 x 1080, 2ms, VGA, DVI-D, HDMI): Amazon.co.uk: Computers & Accessories

Have you considered a G-sync monitor?

If not I'm sure the 770 will manage 60+ frames with most things @1080. So look for a 120-144hz monitor.

I haven't mate no, I'm not overly clued up on peripherals to be honest.

I was told that a low response time is essential for gaming too?

G-sync monitors have nvidia chips in them that remove the need for V-sync. So you'll get no screen tearing, which can be a real pain sometimes.
Prime examples are Shadow of Mordor. Game shipped with terrible frame sync and a v-sync option in the settings that caused random frame rate drops into the 20's. So I had to force it with D3D overider and place the game in "borderless window" mode. I've had v-sync issues with a fair few games so I can see why these G-sync monitors would be a good idea.

Lower response time does help prevent "ghosting" etc. If you go for a 60hz monitor 5ms is fine. If you go for a 120-144hz you want 2ms or less.

I looked at that ASUS monitor when i was looking to upgrade to 27'. I always have 3 monitors and the last 3 where samsung 24'. Ended up speaking to a friend who works for EA and asking some questions. He and some mates there use iiyama prolites for gaming and say they really are good. Hadnt heard the make so was a little unsure, did some research and decided to bite the bullet and order 3. Used mostly for online racing with Assetto Corsa so needed to be good and i cant fault them! Great monitor and really like the response time and quality. Tend to run most things on high settings and they cope well. No issues with FPS either so well recommended.
This is what i ordered

Like the G Sync monitors but they are more expensive and prefer having more monitors for the surround aspec. One day i'll get 3 G Syncs but for now these are excellent.
