Default PC bods, laptop help!

Haven't been bothered with it lately as we have a PC now but I could do with getting my laptop back up and running.
Problem being is that the last time I used it, it kept restarting itself after trying to install windows updates. The blue screen that gives you a "Stage x/3 complete", well it gets to stage 3 which is the installing updates part, but never gets past 0%, and after a good 10 minutes it reboots itself and restarts the same process!

Any ideas?

Ben.

Windows Vista by the way.

It's having trouble installing an update, hence you are in a loop. Have you tried booting into safe mode?

Failing that, you have a several other options, another is 'Last known good configuration' this, as the name suggests will boot the system in this state, these are the first two to try.

I'll give those both a go, fairly sure I tried safe mode last time but not 100%.
Where do I find "Last known good configuration"?

Thanks.

You need to tap F8 before the OS boots.
