1977 rs2000
This escort from 1977 has an incredible 10.500 original km!!. Sadly there is no real documented history to prove it but the car has been carefully disassembled + restored by me and I am convinced this is correct.
It has been in dry storage in a locked garage for many, many years. This story has been confirmed to me by 2 independent persons I know in the “oldtimer” circuit here in Belgium.
The unrestored rust condition was also unbelievable for this model of car. Most of the time these old ford’s are falling apart from severe rust. I know, I had one many years ago in the 80’s. J I found 1 little rust hole in the boot floor and some very light surface rust.
The brake discs are original as far I can see and barely grooved.
I removed the valve cover and the camshaft is as new. Also the engine runs incredibly smooth which is not possible for an older engine. I know these ford pinto engines very well. I did NOT open or repair the engine in any way!!
Only changed the belt, oil filter, spark plugs, belt tensioner, seals, clutch and water pump.
All these are visible on pictures from the restoration.
o Engine/VIN has matching numbers which is extremely rare for these cars.
o Real RS car. Many fake rebuilds out there!
o Interior is as new. Recaro front seats are still” hard”. Cloth is a bit shaggy due to age but perfect. Rear seat is also old but perfect.
o Ass tray has some chips broken of.
o All electrics work.
o Right mirror works ( as does Left one )but control is not great.
Restoration
· Full repaint with filler undercoat and epoxy grounding
· Rims restored
· Engine had big maintenance, painted and cleaned
· New bearing on prop shaft
· New exhaust
· New engine supports
· New belts
· New clutch plate + pressure bearing
· New fuel pump
· New water pump
· New flexible brake lines
· Brake callipers restored
· Master brake pump restored
· Interior cleaned and detailed
· Very extensive anti rust treatment
· Many rubber seals are new
A massive history + invoices of the restoration work is available on demand.
