Clio 172 Fully caged well specced track car and tiltbed trailer package
Renault Clio 172 Cup 2002, Fully stripped out Track / Race car.
I bought the car as a road going standard 172 Cup in 2012 for £1500 and done the whole conversion myself with a lot of help from my best mate who owns his own garage. I’ve done probably 6 trackdays in it since building it and the last one being Croft last June.
The original engine let go on me at Croft as it dropped a valve then clattered it about lots
and basically destroyed the head and block so I sourced another engine from a member on here
hoping for a cheap fix (£350). We replaced the belt etc and fitted it to the car but unfortunately when we cranked it over it had no compression on all cylinders!…….We took it back out of the car, stripped it and all 4 sets of rings had worn dramatically so I gave the engine to a guy in our club (Durham RS Owners Club) to put in a new set of rings, new shells and bearings and also totally rebuilt the head with new seals all round. This has just been completed and is currently running on cheapo mineral oil to bed in the rings.
So as for the full spec of the car, here goes with the cost of things I've spent on top of buying the original car.

BODYWORK AND INTERIOR.
Fully stripped out shell with substantial FIA approved 6 point Bolt in cage (powder coated white) £800
Welded in strengthening mounting plates on floor for roll cage.
Rear Strutbrace powder coated white £70
Lexan polycarbonate front and rear quarter windows with sliders. £150
All electric motors etc removed from doors and boot to save weight.
Cobra Monaco S bucket seats, bolted to floor VERY low for centre of gravity and not on runners. £80

The paintwork polishes up very well considering it’s a track car but does have the odd fault here and there.
The front nearside wing has cracked slightly near the bottom but I’ve glued it from the inside and you can’t really see it and also the nearside side skirt has a small piece missing too, These were both done after a little “off” I had across the grass at Knockhill.
The rear arches have been widened to accommodate the wider track and full slicks
The car would also need a setup or rolling road tune as I’ve added the 182 manifold and decat and also the engine is still running in so just to be on the safe side I would advise this. The last track car I had was a 205Mi16 which I had rebuilt and the rolling road setup cost me 3 hours on the rollers which was £135.
As said also, the car can come as a full package with the trailer as my next track car is going to be road legal again like my last EVO.
It also comes with a spare good working gearbox, throttle body, starter motor, alternator, injector rail, Coil and all the bits that I stripped out of the standard road car except the front seats.
The trailer is a Hedley twin axle tild bed with fully covered bed and electric winch. It was serviced last year by myself and had new shoes fitted to the brakes. It brakes as it should and is a great trailer.
AS FOR PRICE............
As said, I want £4500 for the whole package which considering the trailer is worth £1500, I think its a bargain after what I've spent.
