Escort RST black NMS series 2 ***** NOW SOLD!!*****
It is with great sadness that after around 8 years of ownership I'm putting my Series 2 RST up for sale, I've got almost as far as I can with the car and the need for another Cosworth is calling me!
I originally bought the car as a standard un-modded example with the intention of starting to mod it from scratch, the car was stripped to a rolling shell and taken to a local bodyshop where it had new front wings, front panel, rear quarter panels, inner and outer sills, charisma rails, spare wheel well removed, filler cap removed, de-locked doors and boot, scuttle smoothed, as well as all signs of other rust removed.
It was then painted inside, outside and under the bonnet, while the underside was under sealed, all bumpers smoothed and modded, DTM style mirrors, 90 spec spoiler, etc.
I do have photos of all the body restoration work at various stages so will get the photos scanned and added during the week (photos are in the loft somewhere). Total cost of the bodywork was 3.5k but I don't have any receipts for that unfortunately.
While the body was being done the engine was shipped off to Norris Motorsport for a 1600 stage 7 conversion to be carried out. This was all in late 2005, after the running in miles were done it was finally mapped by Karl.
The car was used for a few years then was left garaged and not in use for over 4 years.
I recently changed the car about a bit (removed its graphics, new wheels, seats, put some interior back in, new lights, changed some mods and added parts I wanted to do previous) and was then put back on the road at the beginning of this year to use for the summer.
Spec is....
Engine: NMS Stage 7 1600cc cvh engine. Comprising of S1 thick walled block, S1 crankshaft, steel rods with arp bolts, forged cosworth pistons, hp oil pump, stage 4 NMS cylinder head, bigger valves, custom camshaft, vernier pulley, hybrid T34 turbo with .55 housing, cosworth management conversion, green injectors, level 6 ecu, double cosworth custom intercooler, reverse charge carrier, ERL water injection, Bosch 004 fuel pump, group A coil, Samco boost and coolant houses, Baily header tank and oil breather, group A air filter, Mocal oil cooler, mongoose exhaust, Pro-Alloy radiator,
Transmission: CTS stage 2+ gearbox with shot peened gears and Quaife ATB diff, vibratechnics gearbox mounts, AP 4 paddle clutch, B&M quick shift, mk5 escort clutch pedal conversion.
Suspension: AVO coilovers on front, AVO shocks and springs on rear, rear strut brace, front adjustable lower arms, poly bushed throughout.
Brakes: front High-Spec 285mm grooved discs with 4-pot calipers and green stuff pads, rear cossie 2wd disc conversion, braided brake hoses, ABS removed, dot 5 fluid.
Body: De-locked all round, bumper strips removed, bonnet raised at rear, scuttle smoothed, single wiper, rear wiper removed, polycarbonate rear and side rear windows, fuel filler in N/S window, original amber lights all round, Laguna front splitter, DTM door mirrors, front glass clear windows, spare wheel well removed, Toad alarm, debadged bonnet, aero catch bonnet catches.
Wheels: Pro Race 1.2 17x7.5 alloys, refurbished in gloss black with Toyo R888 tyres, locking bolts.
Interior: rear stripped out, full Rollcentre cage with one diagonal, rear strut brace, custom fuel filler pipe work (using original tank), Orion mk1 boot solenoid, keyless starter, suede steering wheel, Pro-comp rev counter, cosworth speedo conversion (170mph) inc act gauge, cobra evolution bucket seat, standard passenger Recaro seat (other original seat available but bottom has broken), Luke harnesses, Glow Shift boost gauge.
I think that's about it, there may be a few other bits I've missed, I have receipts for virtually all the parts I've bought, and the the engine conversion and gearbox (just them two bills total over 8.5k), the engine and gearbox have covered just short of 4,000 miles without any problems, engine and gearbox oil changed regularly, Mobil 1 Motorsport, synthetic gear oil, always run on Shell super unleaded.
The car has run a 13.2 quarter @ 110mph at Santa Pod with slips to prove (more in it too as my launches were rubbish!)
Has attended the 2007 Performance Ford thrash where I drove there, ran and drove home with no issue's, car has never let me down and always been reliable,
Here it achieved at 157mph top speed run (before running out of runway)
Was featured in Performance Ford Mag January 2007.
Has also just been rolling roaded at Surrey Rolling Road, producing 286bhp and 300lb ft torque at 1.7 bar of boost, operator mentioning its fuelling and running perfectly.
Bad bits: Where the bonnet has been debadged the paint has started to distort now, ideally would need the front of the bonnet painted, all the wheel arches are stone chipped and the rears quite bad, small stone chips on front bumper, sump is dented on the very back where a driveshaft snapped years ago (only cosmetic, doesn't affect running whatsoever ever), os inner driveshaft gaiter split slightly (temporarily repaired for now)
I may even get some of these small bits sorted out, nothing major so just trying to be honest
For any further info or questions feel free to drop me a call or a text message (message is probably easier in the day as I can't always answer the phone at work) on 07930 421 301 or PM me on here, I'm not in a desperate need to sell and if I need to will keep the car so no silly offers, time wasters or part ex's please....
£6500 ovno
