E39 540 M Sport
Just testing the water here...
Am potentially looking for a swap or p/x for my BMW for something fun for the weekend e.g Scooby, Evo, Skyline, Cossie or similar wildcard.
Its an '02 plate, 4.4 litre V8 that has been re-mapped to just shy of 300 bhp. Despite the engine size I regularly get 30 mpg cruising on the m'way.
FSH and recently serviced by indy specialists.
Mileage is roughly 73k. In addition to the normal auto box with full auto, sport auto, manual sequential the car has also been retro fitted with paddle shifts from an E46 M3 which works perfectly.
Some features;
Full black leather Active Comfort fully electric seats (try find another E39 with these!!!) in excellent condition i.e. no wear.
Pioneer touchscreen headunit inc. I-pod/CD/DVD/satnav/bluetooth hooked up to upgraded speakers with an amplifier & sub in the boot.
Electric reach/rake steering column, M5 folding mirrors, rear sunvisor, windows.
As well as the wheels pictured there is also a full set of smaller 17" BMW wheels fitted with nearly new winter tyres (currently fitted).
The car is in fantastic condition which I believe represents one of the finest remaining E39's on the road. Car is located in Dunfermline but regularly travel to Aberdeen.

Yeah and its 2 years older with nearly twice the mileage, no spare set of winter tyres/wheels, no thumping sound system or comfort seats which were a very expensive option.
I could have had an M5 but did not want to pay the 'M' tax when you look at the price of parts even simple things like brakes are double the price let alone the insurance. Plus the potential for Vanos problems and weak clutches mean expensive repairs.
Anyways am looking to swap for something of similar value & condition that I can use as a weekend 'fun' car. If not then I will just keep it.

Tax was done sept and was roughly £250 for twelve months.
Will get better picks ASAP but still recovering from a back operation.

MOT?
Road tax is March 2001 iirc
* Apologies if you don't like this comment, I obviously dont know the car but tbh you'll struggle to get 6k for it, if it's worth that much to you then I'd keep it and enjoy it, fantastic cars for the money and you wont get an equavalent motor for the same value.
