Default 1993 Escort Van - Ex BT MOT'ed till August 2012 for sale

Not sure if anyone on here will be interested, but I'm Ebaying one of my Escort vans as I don't need it any more. I've copied and pasted the complete auction listing below, and here's a link to it on Ebay:

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...m=110759537432

Pics below:

Price wise, it's on Ebay, so make a bid. If you want to get all picky about lack of prices on adverts then £600 ono. If that's too much for you, then place a bid for what you want to pay

Ebay text:

Hi thanks for looking at my auction for one of my two Escort Vans, only selling as I no longer need 2.

Escort Van 1993 Ex British Telecom, comes with tow bar and electrics.

MOT - was done on 27th August 2011, the mileage at the time was 106475 miles, it's now on 106489 so basically in exactly the same condition as it was when it went in for MOT.
Tax -currently on a SORN declaration as I've not used it since I got it MOT'ed, I have the use of another Escort van, this one now being surplus.

Service info - as an Ex BT van it was well serviced in it's early life, as you can see from the pics it has the first 4 stamps in the book. It's had 3 cambelt changes in it's life, the first being done 15/12/95 at 330362 miles, the second on 9/1/2000 at 64420 miles, the most recent being 23/02/08 at 96693 miles according to the GATES BELTS sticker on the cambelt cover. Pics of the history above, and here is the one of the Cambelt cover, you'll need to copy and paste it into a new browser window:

For the MOT I had to fit 2 new rear wheel bearings, a wiper blade and the exhaust needed welding on the down pipe due to a blow. Receipts for these will be supplied with the van. I also have a new oil filter and oil, plus air filter that I was going to fit but haven't got round to. These will go with the van unless I get 30 mins spare to do them before auction end.

It starts perfectly from cold, and to prove this I've done a very basic video of it starting from cold - link here if you want to watch it (copy and paste into your browser bar): http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v1...=VIDEO0023.mp4

I have the V5 in my name, the last 3 MOT tickets including the current one, the receipts for my MOT items, and the van comes with the original Ford handbooks in a plastic sleeve - these include the part stamped service book shown in the pics, and the radio guide. This is all the paperwork and history I have for the vehicle.

Exterior:

The van in in very "average" condition for it's age. It's got the usual knocks and marks they tend to get over time. No big dents or rusty holes, but it does have dings, rust bubbles around the filler cap and rear arches. You can see the condition in the pics. The sills have also been previously welded, but didn't come up on the most recent MOT. The underside has had feeble attempt at undersealing done by a previous owner!

The paint is typical BT grey - it could do with a good polish / T-cut, but it cleans up just fine as it is.

The right hand back door needs a good slam to get it to shut, I'd guess the catch / hinge could do with a tweak but it didn't bother me as it still shuts as long as you remember it's not a brand new vehicle any more!

It's not totally wrecked / battered, but it's also not going to win any prizes at a Concours competition!

Tow bar and electrics fitted.

Interior:

Pic of the rear load area:
Pic of the spare wheel:
Pic of the new driver seat that comes with the van:

Excuse the junk in there, the van is handy for storage, everything other than the spare wheel and replacement driver seat will be removed. There is a piece of grey carpet on the van floor.

The van has a Ford radio, but this doesn't seem to work. The handbook shows the Radio code, but the screen doesn't light up (possibly a duff fuse?) so I haven't tried entering it. The rear of the van has security grills on the back windows, and a half height Ford supplied metal bulk head panel to keep your tools etc in the back of the van, not the front! It has plastic load liner covers for the side panels and over the wheel arches. These are not shown in the pics, but are included in the auction. The spare wheel looks near new, and has loads of tread on it.

I have included in the sale a replacement driver seat, which is currently in the back of the van. I removed it from a low mileage Escort car, and was going to fit it to replace the driver's seat you can see in the pic. It works fine, but the seat cover material is split and worn out. 10 minute job to swap, I just never got round to it so it's there for the new owner if they want it.

I think that's most of it covered - if you want to ask any questions please do - my number is 07971 661940, my email is sib666@hotmail.com

The van can be viewed from 5pm any day Mon to Fri, or anytime Sat or Sunday before the auction ends. I'd advise a viewing, as we all know photos can tell a different story to the reality, so I'd want the new owner to be sure of what they were getting. Once you've bid it's yours. I'm not a time waster (check my good feedback), so don't waste my time either please..

The van is located in Yeovil, South Somerset, 25 miles from Taunton and Junction 25 of the M5. I could collect you from the local trainstations, which are Yeovil junction or Yeovil Pen Mill if it helps.

I'm after a quick hassle free sale.

Thanks for looking,
Simon

Thanks Andy, I like the wee thing, but it's kind of getting in the way now and oddly enough I can't drive two at once! My other one now has an Escort car TDi engine and PAS so is great to drive. So much so this one just sits there as mobile storage!

Might as well let someone else get some proper use out of it

It'll never set the world on fire, but at 45 mpg whatever speed you go, it's a perfectly functional work horse, and cheap sensible motoring.

I love my vans, this is my 3rd one

Today I had a bit of time so removed all the wood from the back of the van and took two pics, one showing the van floor, and one showing the carpet and side panels back in place. I also put the spare wheel back under the van in the cradle. The tyre is brand new on the spare.

I also adjusted the rear door catch and now the door shuts without slamming it, should have been one of the first jobs I did when I bought the van! I also replaced the air filter, and if I get enough time I'll do the oil and filter change before it leaves me.

I also gave one side panel a bit of a go over with T-cut then polish to see what the flat paintwork would come up like - in the pics below you can see a 50/50 type shot where I polished up to a masking tape line, to show a before and after - looks a lot better I think you'll agree!

Hi Gracey, hope you're well?

I've had a load of messages on Ebay all asking similar, I'm going to let the auction run, as I'm a greedy bugger and need as many pennies as I can get for it.

Send your mate to Ebay and tell him to lob a bid on - it's at £250 now
