Whats it worth? MK4 Zetec Turbo
MK4 XR3i 1990 with 55,000 genuine miles on the clock.
Full respray in Mercedes Arctic White, rear wiper deleted, spoiler deleted, MK3 tail lights fitted. Escort GTi wheels in gunmetal grey to be fitted next week with new 195 Continental tyres.
2.0 Zetec Turbo (Blacktop)
Full stainless exhaust
Hybrid Turbo
-.31 actuator
Decompression Plate
Paddle Clutch
Cosworth Alternator
1.8 Escort sump, flywheel and oil pickup
Sump modified for turbo oil return
The car is in good condition for it's age, with standard XR3i interior and full S2 RS Turbo kit. The engine runs very well and the car is now MOT'd for 12 months and taxed for 6. The respray was a windows out job but the boot floor is black although this is hidden by the carpet.
Been offered a car I quite like as a swap but don't really know what to value mines at? If it's worth more I'd rather sell it and keep the change

No mate, don't have a clue tbh. Had it been a mint original XR3i then I'd have valued it at about £2.5k. If it had the modifications but not the engine probs around £1900. Knowing what I've spent and the time, effort and stress I've been through building it and sourcing parts for it I'd hope for close to £3k but I'd get less than that for it in the real world.

Yeah I wanted something a bit different but not too lairy. It's a good runner and the gearbox changes smoothly, making it easy to drive and good on fuel too!
Giving the GTi wheels a lick of paint and going to start powder coating a few bits n pieces too so it'll look even better soon. Got a set of 15" banded steelies for it too. Just waiting on some rubber for them.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
Wheels, interior and bonnet let it down
BUT .... It's a useable car I would say at least 2.5k
Only because the zetec isn't big spec but useable
Glws mate

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Try get some better photos up. If it is all sound underneath, and engine pulls well and wiring is all neat etc i would put it up for £2000 in the current climate

I agree with all of the above, it's interesting to hear all your views. Basically I found the best shell I could, got a fresh paint job and a low mileage engine, then set about building a cheap, reliable motor that wont cost a fortune to replace bits on if anything goes wrong. I don't care about huge bhp or the fact it's not a 'proper' RS. Just happy to have done what I set out to do. In fact fuck it, I think I'll keep it. Interior and wheels will be sorted soon!

i agree but think thats strong money for it still, £1k - 1300 as its unfinished really. for £2.5k id expect a finished product with decent spec'd engine. its jaus basically a 3i with turbo kit and a time bomb engine imho

The bonnet is getting painted it was just a temporary measure to get it MOT'd. Doesn't cost me anything to get bodywork done since I do it myself. It's running very low boost until I get con rod bolts and Megasquirt. It's on standard rs turbo management and is going surprisingly well considering. Maybe the engine is a time bomb but everything that makes it can easily be swapped over to another £150 zetec engine. Its fun, fast and I haven't remortgaged my house to build it. It was never meant to be a show car or a drag car, just a bit of fun to get me around. I'd swap it for a good 24V Cossie rep though

You need mk4 lights in the back 88spec spoiler and defo needs the bonnet painted. And the in my opinion id say it was worth around £1600-£1850 has its not a genuine rst and not a good spec zetec turbo.Apart from that a very clean car and top work.

I spent ages removing the spoiler and wiper mate I'm not putting one back on! The bonnet is getting painted but probably going to get another standard one and remove the skirts and arches. More of a sleeper look than a replica.
