Default RS TURBO CABRIOLET FOR SALE white 1990

as title says ive got to sell my cab,, i need a more practical car says the missus, sad but true i have to agree with her!!!

A lot of love has gone into this car its not 100% finished but it starts, stops and is taxed till Nov 11 and has a full years MOT (24-06-2012 expiry)!

It is 1990 H reg, XR3i on logbook just not got round to changing it so entirely up to new owner to do so!

what i know... it is 1.6 cvh, T3 water cooled turbo,full stainless steel exhaust from turbo back, 2.5" bore with 4" inward rolled tail pipe, (magnex). had recent rebuild no receipts but i took the head off to inspect it all look pretty new, so refitted with new head gasket and bolts, new cambelt kit with tensioner, new gates v belt for alternator, new gaskets on head ie. exhaust, thermostat etc, new 82 degree thermostat, new oil and filter and antifreeze/coolant, i took loads of pics so will show what has been done and the condition of inside the engine!!!

has chrome rocker cover, strut tops, coil sleeve, fuel filter, fuse box cover, wiper motor cover, baileys stainless header tank, baileys chrome d.v.

full samco boost hoses in red but at the min has blue top boost hose as has d.vtake off, have another set of blue samcos!

has 2 of 3 water samcos, but has standard bottom hose, PACE double capacity intercooler, i have also a huge silver actuator (im guessing collins 31???) but not fitted but will come with car!

iv only done 400 miles since i had the head off so when i get to 500 i will drain fluids and put fresh oil and coolant in and change neccesary filters!

exterior is sprayed in white pearlescent so when clean and in the sun it has shiny green/pink/purple flip in it, has slight bit of surface rust on the leading edge of bonnet and on the n/s/f wheel arch, other than that all good and i can honestly say i dont think there is one dent on the car well nothing that i have ever seen, there is a slight crack on the top of the rear bumper but nothing major.

has 15" escos look alloys front tyres good loads of tread, rear have plenty of tread but age related wear to outer edges (a bit pershed and cracked) but pick up 2x new toyos or yokos on ebay for 80ish quid.

suspension i think is G max struts and springs, but only the front are fitted (may have time to fit the rears) but will come with car, not sure of the drop but its not stupidly low so i reckon maybe 35mm??

has new black mohair hood (small fortune on its own)!!!
new o/s outer c.v boot, will probably do the n/s too as i have the boot for it!!

interior has momo steering wheel and gear knob, half leather recaros in the front both bolsters are very good, on both seats hug you nice and tightly!! but the passenger one has split on the stitching on the top righthand side, easy reapir if your any good with a needle and thread!!

rear bench is a bit grubby if im honest but i will try to give it a good clean up!!

i had all the interior out and carpet up to check the floor and i was amazed at how good it was for a 21 year old car, so i gave it a quick wash and repainted it so it will stay as good for another 21 years!!!

all in all its a decent motor!!

but as with all older cars there are a few minor issues...

It sometimes struggles to start when its hot, which i believe to be a common thing with cvh's, as the starter get too hot from the exhaust it becomes 'lazy' or 'idle' whatever you want to call it!! but it will evetually start but from cold it fires up straight away no problem!! i have bought some heat wrap so i will have a go at wrapping the exhaust to see if it cures it, but i dont know for sure. (i alkso have a spare starter to be included)

the exhaust hangs a bit low and scrapes over speed humps, not so much a problem more annoying than anything!!

reverse lights dont work as the plug is not on sensor in gearbox as when its plugged in the reverse lights are on permanent so i disconnected as reverse lights not needed for MOT.

a few other little bits and pieces like the wiring needs tidying up and need the new n/s/r tie bar fitting as i done the o/s but never got round to doing the other side, it doesn't have to be done but i got 2 new ones but only fitted the drivers side as it broke, but the n/s does come with car!!

needs soundproofing under carpet as when i stripped it out i left it out in the rain woops!!

i might have forgot some things but if i think of anything i will add to it!!

so if you fancy a fun little summer toy as the good weather is now upon us, this might be for you!! whenever i take it out it gets so many looks and compliments its quite flattering, so always puts a smile on my face!!

not sure what money to ask for so im open to offers but nothing silly as we all know what these are worth to break, so please be kind lol!!

you must put a price also you can not change the logbook to state rs turbo, it will always be a 3i
you can try but you could get stitched with a q plate (as james raby did i beleve)

these shot up in price,in 09 I bought a very good conditon escort cabriolet on a F plate not a show car but above average,It had a full rs turbo body kit incl bonnet,90 spec front bumper,full s2 rs turbo engine which had the later diamond & hearts ecu not a single tapping noise hot or cold,no smkoke whats so ever from turbo or stem seals,t3 360 bearing turbo I think it was runing standard management as in 5th pulling from 1.5k it would over boost at 10 psi but in when driven normal it would fly and at a guess it was around 150bhp full best cabriolet I have owned out of about 6 this was the first turbo paid £750 t&t even had full recaro 3 spoke rs wheel,hope this sells mate if I had that money to just spend on a car I would come have a look (could sell my watch?lol) these are so fun even with low boost its how the power comes, nothing then everything

i know what you mean mate lots of fun to drive, if it was practical to keep it i would, but it would only be used a few days a year and just makes no sense in keeping it on the drive when im paying out for insurance etc for it so at least if i get a focus st170 it hopefully will still be quite fun but will get used everyday!!

i hope it sells too and sooner rather than later the insurance is up tomorrow and im not paying out again but there is the new law out aswell where its illegal to keep a car un-insured!!!
