Default 2002 Ford Focus LX 1.6 - £1300!!!

Ford Focus 1.6 16v LX on an '02' plate. 5 doors and Metropolis Blue in colour with 103,000 miles on the clock.

Taxed until January 2011, MoT valid until March 2011. Cambelt was done at 85k including tensioner, idler pulley and auxiliary belt (most people penny pinch and don't do the last 2). Has been annually serviced by myself over the last 4 years using genuine Ford parts (I am an aircraft engineer and have access to a full set of garage facilities and tools)and any repairs/MoT work that has been required has been carried out by myself as well as I know these cars extremely well and they are extremely easy to work on!

The car benefits from a few 'extras' including

- Full colour coding on the front and rear bumpers, side strips and door handles.
- Front foglights (not standard on the LX model - includes headlight switch).
- 'Zetec' 5 spoke 15" alloys fitted with 4 BRAND NEW 195/60/15 tyres.
- Subtle rear spoiler
- Front wind deflectors (can easily be removed if you wish)
- 'Zetec' trim level front seats (much more comfortable and with a bit more side support).
- Genuine Ford exhaust tailpipe trim (part number 98AX40700AC - part of the Collection optional extras).
- Ghia variable speed wiper stalk.
- An immaculate leather steering wheel from an ST170.
- Eibach 'sportline' lowering springs (30mm)- purchased from and fitted by Ford. Vastly improved handling without compromising on the ride comfort.

As most of these are Ford bits you would struggle to notice that they are not factory fitted items yet make this car stand out a lot better from the rest.

The only small 'issues' with the car are as follows.

- The aircon needs a regas. I had to change the air con radiator a couple of months ago and haven't had it regassed yet. It worked absolutely beautifully before it was degassed and gave immediate ice cold air from the blowers.
- 3 minor scuffs on the dashboard from where I fitted the better front seats
- The paint on the 2 front door handles is peeling and could do with touching up/respraying.

Other than those 3 minor issues this is an extremely reliable, extremely comfortable and economical family hatchback (450 miles to a tank) which my fiancee and I will miss once it has gone but we hope that the next owners will be able to get as much out of the car as we have and will take as much care of it as we have as well.

The car is located just outside of Lincoln (LN4) and is available for viewing at any time

I've also got some extra parts I can throw in with the car to the right buyer such as an electric driver's seat base, Ghia maplight (with the extra lights on the side), full size steel wheel with brand new tyre etc etc.

Looking for £1300 which I think is fair money. Have seen lots of similar spec/age/mileage cars going on Pistonheads/eBay/autotrader for anywhere between £1600 and £3000!

I've known this car for the last 5/6 years (along with the chap selling it and his fiance) and can vouch for how well it's been maintained

Good luck with the sale Dave! Whoever gets it will be getting a great car for sensible money

Right really need shot of this.

Going to tout it around the local car sales places safe in the knowledge I will only get around £1200-£1300 for it so if someone wants to take it off my hands for £1300 then I'd rather it went to someone who can appreeciate how nice a car this is.

No. It's my fiancee's car but she now has a Millennium Puma.

I'm sick of it being sat on the bloody drive doing nowt. The tax is up at the end of this month so it needs shifting. A mate in the trade has already told me it'll make 1200 on a cash trade in easily but I'd be devastated to give it to some pikey motor dealer who's just going to bung it straight on the forecourt for twice that without even cleaning it!

Im quite tempted by this, looks tidy, can I just ask a few q's?

What does it have with it in terms of paperwork, old mots, service history etc?
Is there anything thats likely to need doing for the MOT?
Does it smoke/burn oil at all?
Under the front bumpers rub strip (drivers side) is that paint damage or just a reflection?

Got someone coming to look at it on Saturday who seems pretty keen on it but to answer your questions.

It's got a lot of paperwork with it but I don't know what from before I started seeing my missus (if that makes sense) as I am very meticulous about keeping paperwork but she didn't know why to bother - women! The car's had all services and maintenance carried out by myself (RAF aircraft engineer) at a workshop on camp because

- I'm more than capable of servicing the car with the ramps/tools/other workshop facilities I have access to.

- I know for certain I'll do the jobs on my own cars to a higher standard and with more care than some backstreet garage. Given this is the 3rd Focus in my ownership I also know them pretty well.

Where I've carried out work it's been using gen Ford parts and everything is backed up with purchase receipts. Cambelt was done by a trusted garage at 86k which there's paperwork for.

Doesn't burn any oil or smoke, runs very well considering the mileage, I don't do cheap parts though which helps.

The front bumper is spotless, it's only just been resprayed.

Car is now sold!

Pity I had to drop the price as much as I had to in order to shift it but the new owner's sound and will look after it.
