Escort RS1600i, silver, Zetec'd
You are looking at an RS1600i in rare silver - registered 1st August 1983 on an 'A' reg.
This car has belonged to a good friend for the last 5 years, i've helped work on it loads and been out in it a good few times as well. In his ownership its had loads of work done, been at various shows around the country, been on track at Knockhill and Silverstone, and even had a few mini features in magazines. It came to the point where he needed to sell it to make way for other things, and this is where I bought it.
Its running an 1800 Zetec with the RSi box - original engine gave up and made sense to upgrade rather than replace. The engine came out of a Mondeo that had covered 22k from new! Its running RS1800 management and also has 2.0 cams. Wiring for zetec has been spliced into original loom, so i imagine car could be put back to standard fairly easily if you wanted to. The wiring could do with a tidy up if the zetec was staying in place - all works as it should though - car starts and runs fine. There's a cone filter on her, and exhaust looks pretty new. Think battery will need replaced as loses charge if left a couple of days, starts straightaway with a jump though.
Been lowered all round about 60mm, rear shocks have adjusters but fronts don't. Its got uprated brakes on front (2wd Cossie brakes with S2 RST callipers painted silver) and braided brake lines. Rear brakes are standard but handbrake works mint. There is a rear strut brace in the boot that hasnt been fitted yet.
Car had a mini resto about 3 years ago, which consisted of inner and outer sills, rear quarter repair panels, battery tray, scuttle panel, 2 x doors and a tailgate. There is a link below to some pics of this work. Car still looks great, although the doors have started to go at the bottoms. Its got the proper RSi front and rear spoilers which are in great nick, the genuine spotlights and foglights which are mint, new headlights and smoked front indicators. Car also got a new stripe kit after it was painted. Its also got the correct opening rear quarter windows and the very rare sunroof deflector. Wheels are tidy 15" Escort GTi wheels, 2 have good tyres and 2 need replaced. 4 x genuine Ford mudflaps.
The original interior is still in the car, with only a small bit of wear to the drivers seat. Unfortunately like most, the dash has quite a few cracks in it. Original RS 4 spoke steering wheel and clocks intact (rev counter not working with zetec) and everything seems to work as it should. Could do with a clean up as was sitting at the painters for a while and got dusty.
Car has obviously had enthusiast owners over the years and deserves to go to a good home - i've not owned it long but my job is at risk and I want to clear my fleet in case the worst happens - gutted to have to sell the car. I have sent the V5 away in my name however will give the new keepers supplement to new owner, provide a full receipt and send it on as soon as it arrives. She will need trailered away as out of mot and tax although has only covered 12 miles since last mot! Its a perfect winter project to tidy up and use or mint her up, back to standard. RS1600i's are gettin very rare now, and i believe silver is the joint rarest colour, along with graphite grey.
Price is £1,500 firm for the car - no offers so dont waste your time tryin to come and haggle. Viewing welcome and car is in Dunfermline, Fife (KY12). My number is 07951 995583.

I like that a lot, and the Zetec engine just brings it up to date a bit more and will probably be more reliable. I've got a zetec XR3i and it starts so easily no matter how long it's been sat.
Fantastic buy for someone. I think the only thing I'd do is change to the standard wheels and that would be it.

If I had the space I'd be tempted to buy it and just store it. If someone doesn't snap this up quick the car market must be even deader than I thought it was.
Definitely priced to sell.
Some people are going to say it's not original but the engine that's in it will be a lot more reliable than a cream crackered cvh with coils on it.

car still here surprisingly....took her a blast round the block last night and seemed fine.
Also found out she was a concours contender years ago and came 2nd in a show down south! Just waiting on gettin history from previous owner but looks like nearly every mot from new is present
oh and did a quick text HPi check, and all is clear there.

From that numberplate fella it's originally from south Wales,Cardiff direction.I'm pretty sure I used to see it going around the place and at a few of the Rs shows.are you sure I can't tempt you with my facelift grand Cherokee?
