Standard, original low mileage S2 ****PICS ADDED** Car now sold***
1989 F reg black S2 with 90 spec interior, abs heated screen etc. Just 69000 genuine miles with a massive folder of history, all MOT's etc. 2 keys. Full service history with original stamped book and folder. Hpi clear Has a toad cat 1 alarm fitted with both remote fobs and certificate of installation. Genuine Ford mudflaps all round will be included, also a set of Ford headlight covers (by negotiation) will go with the car if we can agree close to the asking price.
Car is totally standard and original apart form a scorpion stainless steel exhaust. Even original stereo fitted. The interior is in fantastic condition, unmarked, no rips or burns.
I have owned this car now since May 2009, and since then have had a full service done by Ford specialist, had the car fully checked over and has had the following new Ford parts:
Cambelt, water pump, wheel bearing.
New discs and pads.
3 new tyres.
Oil and filter change.
Brake fluid and anti freeze drained and changed.
Full set up, new plugs, leads filters.
The car runs and drives superbly as you would expect. Mot until July 2011.
The bodywork is generally very good, it has had a full respray done at some point and it has been done really well. This was probably about 4 years ago. The chassis is solid and has been waxoyled, never welded as far as I know and I've had it checked over enough!
There are some small bubbles of rust if I was to be really picky, one behind the spotlight on the bonnet, a tiny scab at the top of the nearside wing which really just needs rubbing down and painting as it has not gone through. and one on the offside wheel arch which is just poking through. These were there when I bought the car and have not deteriorated at all since then. There is also a hairline scratch on the spoiler which I could probably touch in. The sunroof, battery tray and usual areas of rot are all clear. Just feel it's better to be over critical than waste someone's time. For the year of the car it is very good compared to a lot I saw before I bought this one.
So there you have it, one very clean and original car, unabused, with low mileage and massive history. It isn't concourse but with a little time and effort it could well be. If it was with that mileage I would be asking a lot more money for it. I hardly use the car and have done 250 miles in the last year, it lives in the garage under a cover on charge and only comes out on dry days.
I have advertised it before and had a buyer who was unable to complete the sale so I was just going to keep it, however I have now bought a Cosworth so have no choice but to try and sell again so the Cosworth can have the garage
No swaps please. Looking for offers around £4000. Will get some pics up when I can find out how to do it
Please pm or call me 07553 088439. Located nr Southampton. Hants.
Pls see photobucket link, Link may take a while to open but will do eventually!

Thank you.
I love this car but a Cosworth has always been my dream.
Thought I'd give it a go on here, nothing but tyre kickers on Pistonheads. Loads of stupid questions but no one willing to come and have a look

[quote=Steve the Plumber;5029024]Sign of the times im afraid,
Yes, I know, not much moving anywhere unless you want to give it away.
If push comes to shove I'd rather keep it and pay for storage than do that. Maybe try again next year when things might improve.
Thought it's worth a go on here, more genuine interest. Thanks for your comments though

Why oh why do people make arrangements to view a car and not turn up? Usually hide behind someone else's email address and if you ever do get a phonecall it's usually late at night and witheld.................................
It drives me mad
I'm going to give up with Pistonheads, it seems that the more you try and discourage timewasters and non swaps the more they see it as fair game to do so.
Oh well, I feel better for that anyway, rant over.

Probably the same idiots that I have had too
Seems to me that if you are interested in a car you actually phone someone to ask them personally, nobody seems to do this anymore just bombard you with stupid questions by email
Going to take it off Pistonheads, that's why I thought I'd give this site a go, it's the first place I would look and would prefer to buy from an enthusiast anyway.
Just so much hassle, but that's life

Forgot to mention that this car is cheap to insure on Classic insurance as it is standard and unmodified.
It has an agreed valuation of £4000 with my current insurers

I would rather keep it then sell it for stupid money.
I looked at loads before I got this one, it is unmolested, and has a massive folder of history to prove mileage and how well it has been looked after.
The one and only person who has actually come and looked at the car wanted it but cannot sell his so it can't be that bad

Don't know how you can comment on a car that you've never looked at
If I'd had more than one viewing and no offers I would agree and maybe think it was overpriced. As it was, the first guy that saw it offered me what I was asking at the time £4500.
Unfortunately he hasn't sold his car and despite me waiting for him for 4 weeks he still hasn't. So I have revised the price to what feel is realistic given the overall condition, mileage, history and rarity of the car.
Yes, it's a hard market at the moment but if you have something good you should be able to get somewhere close to the asking price, if only you can get someone to view in the first place, this seems to hardest job. Then they can make their own mind up,
If it doesn't sell for that or thereabouts, I won't sell it , simples

Too bad i live in N.Ireland as i would have viewed this by now but its a long way to travel, not to mention the costs involved which adds to the budget, always wanted a black one too but there is limited choice here....looks like a beautiful example

Thanks for all the positive comments guys
Think we have all been caught out travelling to view a car that is not as described and it's expensive as well as a complete waste of time.
I went to Wales to get this one and luckily it was even better than described, guess I was lucky. Have been caught before though and lost a deposit and a whole day travelling to look at something that had no history (despite me asking time and time again) and was falling apart, even had the door cards stapled on and the door lock broken, 500 mile round trip
Don't blame people for being cautious but there are some genuine sales out there too.
I sold a my Corrado VR6 to a guy in Dublin who travelled over here, flew into Southampton and the took the car back on the ferry. He was really chuffed with the car but took a gamble, and as you say Baz it can be a very expensive gamble
Ho hum, can see me keeping this one, won't break my heart though, rather do that than give it away.

Looks a nice one mate and def worth 4k all day long. There is def not alot of low milage ones left about! Mine has done 58k genuine miles but mine is 2.1, all painted underneath etc. I've been considering selling mine for a while but know what people are like and offer you nothin for it! Think im gonna put mine back to std then possibly put it for sale, or just keep it locked away if it doesnt fetch really good money!
I def wouldnt lower your price, its worth keeping rather than selling for stupid money
Good luck with the sale

As above really, the start of summer next year would probably be a better time to sell it, they have done their devaluing and have been slowly creeping up for the last couple of years. 3/4 years ago you could have picked up something reasonable for a grand(ish), any thing for that money now is scrap.

Thanks guys for the positives
I have another S2 that has done 45k just 3 owners and always been garaged, not a blemish anywhere . I paid almost 6k for that but it was worth it and I will keep it for the long term in storage as I feel prices will creep up again.
Now is not a good time to sell unless you're going to give it away, I only have to jump in it and drive it around, just pure smile factor.
Will give it a few more weeks then sorn it and garage it up over winter. Hopefully things might be easier all round next year
