Sierra Estate 2.9 V6 24v Cosworth **SOLD**
Bought this with the intention of having a 'different' track car, but feel need something slightly smaller, it's a hell of a lot of fun though
Was originally a 2.9 V6 12v 4x4 but has been converted to a 24V BOA cosworth
MOT: December 2010
TAX: September 2010
History: Not a great deal but does it matter on a car like this? Some old receipts etc
Engine:
24v 2.9 v6 from the Granada Cosworth, unsure of mileage it has covered but is a fantastic running engine and returns good fuel economy and good power. The exhaust is a modified granada cosworth item so its nice and quiet but with some nice subtle V6 tones when your giving it some. Running the standard airbox which makes the install look very factory like it should be there Vent in front bumper is hooked up straight into the airbox for cold airfeed for the engine. Rocker covers been painted hammered silver, carbon fibre spark plug covers and matt black inlet plenum with polished cosworth plaques. Engine has recently been serviced, new filters, fluids (Motul oil) and spark plugs.
Throttle body has been enlarged and polished, knife edged butterflys. Inlet ports on the plenum have been matched to the head inlets for a nice even higher flow. New inlet gaskets and vectra injectors fitted. Rocker covers have a modified bolt set with shorter sleves to allow the gasket to squash down further which mean NO LEAKS! which is normally one of the downfalls of this engine. Chain and tensioner have been inspected and show normal even wear, tensioner has plenty of life and chain is not shiny on one side etc. The engine is very healthy.
Running Gear:
Gearbox is a stronger late type 9 from a late xr4i had no problems with it. Fitted with a 7.5" Granada diff and rear beam now for the extra strength. 3.92 ratio so pulls like hell now.
Granada cosworth front brakes, recent new disks and pads, obviously being a ghia 4x4 it has rear disks too recent new calipers and pads and discs.
The front end is still 4x4 stuff obviously without the diff and driveshafts etc, still a 4x4 crossmember etc so converting back to 4x4 would be very easy.
Has a granada rack fitted for improved lock for drifting and a granada cosworth 2wd anti rollbar for the increased castor which helps with drifting too, this estate goes sideways very well and is very controllable on the limit. Front has koni top adjustable shocks and lower springs.
Body:
Paintwork usual sierra lacquer problems, some rust coming through on the passenger side rear arch but that is it which as you know is fantastic for a sierra it is a VERY VERY solid car and will not need any welding in the near future. The underside has recently been checked over for rust, any repairs made and undersealed, im very confident rust and bodywork wont bother you for quite some time come MOT time. Front bumper is sierra cosworth with air vent in left foglight hole piped to airbox, laguna splitter, cosworth sideskirts and mudflaps
Wheels:
Mondeo Si 16" escort cosworth lookalikes alloys
Front o/s tyre just legal
3mm spacers fitted to the rear to bring the wheels out a little bit.
Front and rear electric windows, power steering, heated windscreen, electric mirrors, electric sunroof, all the aircon stuff is there just needs the compressor adding to the engine and piping up you would then have one very cool car with that hooked back up. Central locking etc. Also has the little computer in the middle i forget the name but same as the cosworths, tells you when the doors are open, lights out, date, stop watch, fuel light etc etc Very high spec car and everything works.
Interior:
Sierra cosworth cloth recaros with matching pattern doorcards and rear seats etc, recaros are in good condition with only minor wear on the drivers bolster, sierra cosworth steering wheel, panasonic radio/cassete, carbon fibre rear inner tailgate cover. Granada cosworth rev counter to match the engine obviously. Speedo is not working however.
It looks cool, very torquey, goes sideways / drifts very well if thats your thing
It's a bit of a sleeper with the TD badge and "no tools left in vehicle over night" sticker on the tailgate.
Tow bar all wired up and has been used a couple of times to pull a car trailer (by previous owner)

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
what rear suspension is it running?
i know it says granada but i mean shocks/springs etc and did you need to mod the body to make it fit etc
i built a 4x4 estate couple years back with a 330bhp cossy in it
was a flyer but handled horrible due to the differant rear suspension on the estate
i'm not having a dig, i'm realy genuinly interested as it always let me down knowing
i never finished it right, love to do another

I'm sure it's on standard rear suspension (was already built as is when bought it), was due to take it to Ford Fair, was a little worried about booking track time with it though due to this, I'd stirpped the rear out, but J said it's be too light over the rear wheels
I believe Granda Cosworth rear suspension would fit, but as Spax list adjustables for the estate I'd be tempted to fit these instead

....and Bailey loves to knock it sideways on the laminate in the hallway, so I'm sure he'd enjoy being flung around the boot of a Sierra Estate.
Cheers,

I had spax adjustables on the back of my YB estate thought it handled really well once i found a good setting to have them at.
Good luck with the sale.

Totally agree, can't remember what the guy said happened to the old one. I'm considering just keeping it now after looking at a car today supposedly great condition, wasn't my idea of great condition
