Sierra Convertable £1500
Someone had to do it
Base model 3 door sierra 1.6 manual
I modified this car in 1995 it was featured in Fast car magazine in Jan 1996, not been on the road since 1998
About time i sold it really
Both cills are strengthened with 100 x 50 box section and braced up the A and B pillars so its nice and strong.
Rear deck is steel and hinges up
Bootlid hinges seperately.
The wheels, front bumper, grill, headlights, indicators, fogs, etc.are original cosworth parts.
The rear spoiler is from a 2.0 injection and is sought after for the sierra RS500 look
There is no roof just a frame that is folded into the space under the deck.
Not a fast car, just a fun cruiser, deffinately get lots of looks in this
No rust last time i looked.
Not that bothered if it goes so wont be giving it away
Will be MOT'd, and its done lees than 60K miles
Its registered as a sports convertable, so no registration issues.
Not Tax ( been in storage most of the last 14 years)
Can be viewed, just ask.

i dont no why every1s slating this i seen anothe rpost in general section, so many cars get fecked up every day by wankers with body kits n stupid mods n filler, back in the day there were prolly loadsa 3 door shells? so why does it matter. ppl wreck cars by stripping them out but no1 complains about that as long as they go faster? stop moaning n leave him be i say =] i quite like it lol

Cant please everyone,
#Thanks for the positive comments guys,
Neilscott Daryl and luke summed it up, why do the same as everyone else, some people got no imagination
The colour is ford ocean blue, yes i modified it from a base 3 door that was accident damaged,
only did it cos i missed not having a convertable and planned to chop my other 3 door with the 351 V8 in it and was using this as a test bed ,
it came out so good i kept them both
Another waste of a 3 door shell
roof frame, as far as i got with it

I think it's great ,he certainly shouldent be criticized for wasting a 3 door shell its not ;like its an fs500 shell or owt like that ,back then nobody wanted 3 door shells anyway and he could hardly take on a conversion like this using a 5 door shell, I admire his vision, and his ability.I think the car looks cool ,it's a refreshing change id certainly not throw it off my drive (if there was even any room to get owt else on) ,Id like to see it with 3 door cosworth kit and arches ,3 door recaro trim and then painted white ,plz dont even put the price up i dont want tempting!

Just a secondary thought but how about a thunder saloon arch kit ,super lowered ,huge deep deep colour coded bbs split rims with chrome rim ,and a menacing dark coloured semi racing style paintjob

then make a fibre glass 2 hump cover for over where the back seats are that comes up to meet and mould round the rear of the 2 front seats in a porsche speedster or carrera gt style

ChuckH, Tell us about your car mate.
Got a lot of experience in modifying cars have you ??
I only take critical comments from anyone thats had a go at modifying,
Same as the Piston heads lot, who tend to be porche, ferrarri and TVR drivers who dont lift a spanner
Each to their own

Ocean blue?god,it's the spit of my old escort cabby colour.tbh the shape quite suits a cabriolet, bit like the calibra cabs a few people have done.some guy in Swansea years ago had a jag xj6 convertible, four door saloon in burgandy with kind of a canvas roof affair, now that was fucking hideous!!!!

Your right, getting the roof to look right is really difficult, cos whatever you do it isnt going to look as sleek as the original tin roof and all the glass
Just look how an escort cabriolet looks with its roof up compared to the saloon version, like a pram.
When i started this conversion i dont think there was a nice looking fold away convertable, then the BMW 3 series came out with the look i was after.
The roof frame is there, and it folds up and locks in place. it needs a canvas
I was sourcing rubbers to go around the edges before i covered it over, but got side tracked into other things, and i wasnt going to be driving it with the roof up anyway.

I've owned an e36 cabby for years now and the roof does look great when down,escort/golf cabs look shite with that stupid bunched up pram effect.understandably the Beemer was twice the price of the golf/escort style cabs so what you were trying wasn't an easy fix.

spot on i reckon. i cant understand people who just run it down and slag it off, but we all have to remember that we all have different opinions and sometimes it is nice to hear the negative side along with the positive. my opinion is it is absolutely great!!!!
more people should do things like this and not just the typical cossie look.
i used to have a standard 3 dr and it was the same colour and it was all too easy just to bolt a cossie kit onto it!!
well done i say matey! keep it
