The best way to sort it out is with a ignition only ecu.
In the old days, no doubt before you were born and I was still really old!!, cars had distributors, so you couyld adjust the weights/stops and springs inside these to modify the curve for the ignition.
Nowadays it is all done with the ecu, when it is mapped, you may be able to leave your ecu powering just the ignition side of things, but it will be very flat as the fuelling will have altered drastically the curve is not likely to give you the full goods power wise, 40's or any carb is a backward step, by all means got to seperate tb's, but fuelling on efi will always be better, if just wanting the noise individual throttle bodies(tb's) will give this just the same as carbs but will all the advantages of efi, but if your ecu is limited in it's adjustability from a mapping point of view then it isn't worth it, unless a new 3 d ecu was fitted, this is the only way to get 100% benefit from tb's and or ignition.
Ignition curves are often overlooked but are at least as important as the fuelling.
